Lt. Parker served with the U.S. Army attached to 102nd Aero Squadron. He was with the Lafayette escadrille as an artillery observer. The University had received word that Lt. Parker had been reported missing on May 4, 1917, and it was feared he had been killed. But on June 17 word was received he was a German prisoner "while acting as airplane scout on a bombing expedition he was forced to land behind the German lines and was made a prisoner." He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France.
