Lt. Hoskins served with the 52nd Coast Artillery Regiment. He was the first officer of the Coastal Artillery Corps (52nd Div) to be killed in World War I. A bunker at Fort Crockett, Galveston, Texas, has been named the Leonard Hoskins Bunker. It was built in 1921 and demobilized in 1946. It is still in existence on the grounds of the San Luis Hotel on the seawall in Galveston, Texas. He is buried at Plot F Row 09 Grave 05 at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romagne, France. Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the French Croix de Guerre.
